There's a little joint up in Rogers Park that is now my weekly hangout spot and I'm sad that I only just started going now, with five weeks left here. They call it the Heartland Cafe. Every Wednesday night, starting at ten, they host the In One Ear open mic that I've played twice now. The crowd is full of familiar faces and first-timers and everyone's pretty nice and super-polite to the performers. The acts range from comedy to story-telling to music to spoken word and it's all quite wonderful. Anyway, here are some photos that Heartland-frequenter, Chris, took of me playing there the other week.
